No, Neil, I got it as a child bulb. But I think it is easy to germinate asymbiotically.

Hallo Berthold,

I have no problem germinating, it's keeping the protocorm alive that I have an issue with.

maculata is much more resistend against infection than ustulata. So it should be easy to keep it alive after deflasking also.

I only ever manage to get the protocorm to 2 or 3mm then they die, I wish I could get it to deflasking size.

I have managed to get the protocorms to produce a shoots this time, when the protocorms were 2-3mm I transferred the protocorms to jars and then placed them in the fridge.  I have kept them at 4C  for 6 months and they have grown to 6-7mm and have just started to produce shoots.  I have now transferred some of them to 10C and will see what happens to those and the others I am keeping at 4C all in the dark at present.

Neil,
I sow Neotinea maculata asymbiotically the first time this year.
All the seeds germinated very well and quickly on HCM1a from hengduanbiotech.
But the protocorms start to turn brown and dying very quickly to :heul, so I replate them very soon on HCM5a.
Since they are much better, :classic but grow is rather slow and they have make no shoots at this time

Mine where sown on Malmgrens and transferred onto it as well.  I have just had a look at the jars the ones at 10C are going brown so I have probably lost those, they are now back in the fridge. However the ones at 4C are still OK, one of these has now produced a shoot that is 2 cm tall so I will have to replate that one and move it into the light.

I just check mime this morning. The protocorms who survived are really looking good.
They have doubled in size and make a lot of new rhizoids, but no shoot. They stand, with a lot of other Jars in my basement at 12/15°c, under fluorescent lights. I hope they 'll reach deflasking size.

Moin,
